Pulai Springs Resort , Johor Bahru

Ok so the drive in feels majestic . Passing by rows of trees on either side of the road , water cascading from ponds every few metres , extremely well manicured gardens and perfectly landscaped golf course ( at least to my non golfer s eye ).

Check in was pretty smooth . Just so you know , there are no inter-connecting rooms . So big families , boo boo here. Hallways nice and spacious .And then , the rooms , old but maintained ok .

Box tv like 1969

Then our horror started , we called for some ice . It was 5 ringgit for a “plastic bag” of ice .No ice bucket , by the way. Two tiny bottles of mineral water , and no extras despite us pleading . Towels look tired and  calling for retirement .No door rug for “just out of shower ” so wet feet all the way out , a pain if you have kids.

We called for room service .Had fried rice and a burger .RM 35 ++ each , and totally not worth it .Five star prices , for a near 3 star property.

Morning breakfast , at 9 am had most trays out of food .Replenishing of food item’s was slow , leaving lots of people practically scurrying for whatever’s left .Taste , some ok , some not ok.

There are two pools , one at the sports club and the other at the hotel itself .We used the hotel pool.Ordered drinks , and the waiter mentioned we weren’t allowed to have beverages by the pool .(Note , the only alcohol beverages are beer , one type of white and another red wine in the entire property).

There was a kid’s club with a charge of RM 18 / hour .There should be a complimentary use at least for hotel guests , don’t you think .At least an hour free ????

Free shuttle to JPO for a maximum of 10 guests once a day .So , no chance of a spot during the weekend as spots fill up by morning. I mean , seriously , I am sure you could increase the shuttles to about 2- 3 times a day  instead of just one.

So , in conclusion , it’s beautiful outside but “internal affairs”‘ a big no no . Expensive food , very poor service .Apparently if you don’t request for your daily “make up ” room service ,the room doesn’t get done .

If its a pit stop  in JB , I would recommend it , but if you’re going for a holiday in JB , I ‘d think twice. There s so much potential here, just wish they would look into guests relations .
