What was supposed to be a fun weekend for the kids 2 hours drive away , became a closer to home fun weekend with the kids , 20 minutes away.
We decided on a staycation within the city centre due to certain circumstances .
ELEMENT by Westin , is the first of its kind that has been setup in Malaysia. It boasts being green , so its gentle to mother nature. No plastic water bottles but instead , filtered water on tap. Swimming pool minus the chlorine . Yoga classes with certified trainers few times a day , so you have no excuse even if you woke up late.
Ilham tower lobby , sitting across Troika
We booked the Skyline Studio ( that cost us RM550 ish for a nite and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids below 6), that offered 2 twin beds. So we could accomodate our 2 kids.Check- in was quick at level 40 , of the Ilham tower. A very sexy , clean-cut tall structure with so much attitude. (Like Idris Elba )#yougetmydriftnow. Hotel occupies levels 39 upwards.
Decent sized rooms , with those ( ohhhh, soooo )Heavenly signature beds. Nothing beats it,really. The rooms have great views , more so since we were on level 52.
Our room – the morning after
Views from our room *the upcoming Four Seasons kind of spoils the Twin views
We had lunch at the Trace all day dining restaurant . Food was pretty good and prices were affordable.I had the Nasi Lemak and my kids had the noodles. However , service was rather slow. Food took nearly 20- 25 minutes to arrive , despite ours being the only other table occupied at the restaurant.
Trace restaurant
you almost feel like pee-ing with the doors open
sunset lobby views
The other reason we opted for this hotel was the indoor pool . With the erratic weather recently , this was pretty much the best option so we were safe from intense heat and the torrential rains. Floor to ceiling glass paneling helped with amazing skyline views while swimming in a saline pool.Another plus point for Element KL.
There s an attached bar , with no happy hour. ( Happy hour is at the bar by the lobby from 5pm till 8 pm – one for one for spirits or beer at RM 30 nett) .Double plus point!
The indoor pool
In the evening , we took a stroll to KLCC , a slow walk that took us about 20 minutes considering we had a 3-year-old with us. After dinner , since it was late , we hitched an uber back that cost us RM 3.50.
I had planned to sign up for the yoga class the next morning , but slept in ,instead. No matter how many classes they have , being lazy always wins. Those beds are called Heavenly for a reason. Woke up just in time before the breakfast line closed.Breakfast was extensive , despite some not so great reviews on tripadvisor. There was a mix of Asian and Western cuisine, with fresh juice , made to order waffles, pancakes, eggs and noodles.
I actually loved the Element KL.Great green initiative by the Westin and the pool WILL definately be a reason for us to come back.
p/s: Element KL boasts hi-tea with a twist called ARTEASTRY. What used to cost RM 78, now cost RM 128 nett for 2 persons. Made available during weekends between 1- 5pm , whereby hi tea is presented in a most fascinating manner. See it to believe it. It mentions on their website that it’s available during Public Holidays, however it wasn’t on the 1 st day of CNY , hence why we missed it.
